The 97th session of Permanent Committee for Arab Media to be launched tomorrow

    The 97th regular session of the Permanent Committee for Arab Media will begin tomorrow, Tuesday, under the chairmanship of the Chairman of the Permanent Committee for Arab Media, Dr. Nabil Jassim, and chaired by the Iraqi Media Network.

    The Committee for Arab Media will discuss the working documents and draft resolutions prepared by the Technical Secretariat of the Council of Arab Information Ministers, based on the valuable contributions of member states, relevant organizations and unions, to be submitted to the Executive Office in preparation for approval by the Ministerial Council.

     
    The work of the 15th regular session of the Executive Office of Arab Information Ministers, and then the 52nd regular session of the Council of Arab Information Ministers, will be launched with the participation of a delegation from the Media and Communications Commission and the Iraqi Media Network and in the presence of a number of information ministers in Arab countries and their representatives, and heads and secretaries of media organizations and unions with Observer status that operates under the patronage of the League of Arab States.

    The Permanent Committee will discuss a number of issues, foremost of which is the continuation of Arab media support for the Palestinian cause, with occupied Jerusalem at its core, activating the objectives of the Arab media strategy 2022-2026, including the handling of the media, especially public ones, with crises and disasters in light of national experiences with the Corona pandemic, and following up on the media action plan abroad, the role of the media in confronting the phenomenon of terrorism and extremism, the Arab media map for sustainable development 2030, and the inclusion of educational media in the curricula of member states.

    The Permanent Committee will put the most effective participatory approaches and practical initiatives for the development of Arab media in the context of the rapid transformations of the media and digital landscape, especially with regard to completing the establishment of a unified Arab strategy to deal with major media companies (Google, Apple, Facebook, Amazon, Netflix, GAFAN, the establishment of the observatory and the integrated platform, and the preparation of a website The Arab Committee for Electronic Media, as well as setting the rules of procedure for the "Media Excellence Award" in appreciation and gratitude to the personalities and institutions that rendered great services to the Arab media.

    The Council of Arab Information Ministers will discuss, during the 52nd session, a number of organizational and structural issues, and review the intensive activities and moves that have characterized the work of the missions and centers of the League of Arab States in close cooperation with the Arab ambassadors’ councils in the countries of accreditation, and review the reports of media organizations and unions, and the “Media Capital event Arabi".
