Messi is out of the Ballon d'Or nominations since 2006

French magazine France Football announced the list of candidates to win the Ballon d'Or for the best player for the year 2022, that award, the winner of which will be announced on October 17, next.

While the list of the players witnessed the presence of a prominent constellation of the best players in the world, it witnessed the absence of Argentine star Lionel Messi, the Paris Saint-Germain striker, and the record holder as the most awarded the award by 7 times, the last of which was last year.

Messi has not missed the list of candidates to win the Ballon d'Or since 2006, and was in the final list of 3 players 13 times throughout his professional career.

Messi participated with Paris Saint-Germain in 34 games in all competitions last season, during which he scored 11 goals and assisted 15 others.

It is noteworthy that the Brazilian star Neymar is also among the prominent names absent from the list of candidates to win the Ballon d'Or this year.
