Over five million visitors participated in commemorating the first ten days of Muharram - Ashura in Najaf, as it was confirmd by Najaf Governorate.
"The security and service plan for Ashura commemoration is proceeding with a high flow," said the Governor, Majid Al-Waeli, to the Iraqi News Agency INA, noting that the traffic movement in the province has not been blocked in the streets.
He added, "Large numbers of mourners flocked to the governorate during these days to revive the ceremonies of the visit. The number of visitors since the beginning of Muharram and until now has reached more than five million visitors who entered the old city."
"59 medical detachments are distributed over the old city, districts. Government hospitals also provided special centers within the old city, represented by Al-Sadr Educational Hospitals, Al-Zahra Educational Hospitals, Al-Hakim Educational Hospitals, and Al-Najaf Al-Ashraf German Hospital to provide all nursing and treatment services for mourners inside the old city. The Health Directorate also provided ambulances to transfer critical cases to specialized hospitals," according to the statement.
