Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs counted Wednesday the number of work permits granted during the years 2021 and 2022.
The Director General of the Department of Labor and Vocational Training in the Ministry, Raed Jabbar Bahed, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "The number of foreign workers in Iraq who were granted work permits by the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs during the years 2021 and 2022 amounted to approximately 30,000 workers," noting that "there is coordination with the Ministry of Interior/Residency Department to hold foreign workers violators of residency conditions accountable and refer them to labor courts.
He explained, "The fees that are taken on the work permit for foreign workers amount to only 250 thousand dinars," noting that "the Residence Department also deducts other amounts from foreign workers."
