Baghdad Operations Command confirmed Saturday that the capital is surrounded by four security plans to prevent the infiltration of terrorists., While it indicated that there is an intensive security plan to protect visitors during the Nights of Power and the anniversary of the wound and martyrdom of the Imam (peace be upon him), announcing the arrest of a number of terrorists during the first half of the blessed month of Ramadan.
Baghdad Operations Commander, Lieutenant-General Ahmed Salim, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "ISIS terrorist gangs always target occasions, in the blessed month of Ramadan, terrorist gangs intend to target the capital and the provinces with suicide bombings and car bombs," stressing that "there is intelligence follow-up from all agencies and intelligence services.”
Baghdad Operations Commander, Lieutenant-General Ahmed Salim, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "ISIS terrorist gangs always target occasions in the blessed month of Ramadan, terrorist gangs intend to target the capital and the provinces with suicide bombings and car bombs," stressing that "there is intelligence follow-up from all agencies and intelligence services operating within the sections of responsibility."
He added that "there is an intelligence effort that continues on a daily basis, especially in the north of Baghdad and the areas of the capital surrounding such as Tarmiyah and in the northeast of Diyala and south of Baghdad."
He pointed out that "there is a wide security presence after Iftar until the time of suhoor near the markets, whether in Karrada and other areas, and it is part of the security plan to protect shoppers, especially during the days of the blessed Eid al-Fitr."
He explained that "the blessed month of Ramadan witnesses several religious occasions, including the Great Battle of Badr, the Nights of Decree, the wounding of Imam Ali (peace be upon him) on the 19th and his martyrdom on the 21st, and therefore the city of Kadhimiya will witness a massive increase during these occasions," stressing that "there are detailed plans to secure protection for visitors."
He pointed out that "during the first half of the blessed month of Ramadan, a number of wanted persons under Article 4 of terrorism were arrested in the Baghdad areas and even inside Baghdad."
He stressed that "Baghdad was surrounded by temporary checkpoints , to prevent ISIS terrorist gangs from benefiting and entering Baghdad using booby-trapped cars and explosive belts."
