Salah al-Din provincial police command unveiled on Friday security plans to protect the province, while confirming that thermal cameras have contributed to limiting the movements of ISIS terrorist gangs.
"The Salah al-Din provincial police directorate is working with four operational commands (Salah al-Din operations, Samarra operations, Nineveh operations and the Advanced Joint Operations Center), as the security situation is generally good throughout the province and there are no breaches," police chief Maj. Gen. Qandil Khalil Mohammed al-Jubouri told The Iraqi News Agency (INA).
He added that "inspections are continuing throughout the province, in coordination between us and the operational commands, as the forces are in a state of continuous movement, which has led to the reduction of ISIS terrorist operations, in addition to the great intelligence effort exerted by those responsible for this aspect as well as the role of electronic equipment represented by thermal cameras, which contributed significantly to stop the movements of ISIS terrorist gangs.
"Security plans are many and they are prepared accurately and there are security plans to protect cities, there are security plans for religious events, security plans to protect mosques on Fridays and security plans to protect schools on exam days, and there are contingency plans to protect citizens from floods and natural disasters," he said, adding that "operations continue daily."
"The number of people arrested this year is 5,583 in accordance with various legal materials and judicial orders issued against them and referred to the courts," al-Jubouri said, adding that "157 drug traffickers were arrested among traffickers, users and drug traffickers and in a variety of forms of pills, and crystal material".
