The Joint Operations Command revealed, today, Friday, joint efforts to pursue impersonators, and while confirming that ISIS terrorist gangs receive strong strikes by land and air, while referring to stopping the infiltration of the enemy across the Iraqi border and impeding its movement.
The spokesman for the joint operations, Major General Tahsin al-Khafaji, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "the leadership has efforts with the National Security Advisory, the two intelligence and military intelligence agencies, the Investigation Agency and our deployed detachments to pursue such impersonators and bring them to justice.".
Al-Khafaji added, "impersonators will be criminalized for their actions according to the military penal code for the army in the Ministry of Defense or the police in the Ministry of Interior.".
On the current situation of ISIS terrorist gangs in Iraq, Al-Khafaji said, "The first quarterly conference held recently in the presence of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, during which a detailed vision was presented about the terrorist gangs of ISIS and the strong blows they receive from our security services, especially the intelligence that were able to deliver information The Iraqi Air Force killed 70 terrorist elements in a period of three months.
He pointed out that "the security forces, in turn, are chasing and arresting the terrorists, which is a severe blow to them and their presence, but on the other hand, ISIS still poses a threat in their areas such as Diyala, Kirkuk, southwest of Nineveh, Anbar, Jazira, and even north of Baghdad.".
He continued, "The security services are carrying out pre-emptive operations and following up and prosecuting ISIS terrorist gangs, and was able to penetrate and break their thorn," pointing to "the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces directed to increase pre-emptive operations and increase pressure on him by breaching its ranks and activating the intelligence and security effort.".
Regarding securing the Iraqi borders, Al-Khafaji said, "The Border Forces Command affiliated with the Ministry of Interior, in cooperation with the Joint Operations Command, has made a great contribution to controlling the border strip and reaching final stages for its completion," noting that "the border strip had many obstacles and the security services were continuing in the process." Digging the security barrier between the Iraqi and Syrian borders with a trench and barbed wire, placing concrete blocks in places we cannot dig, in addition to providing them with towers and cameras.
He pointed out that "the operations are continuing, and the enemy's infiltration through the border has been stopped and its movement has been closed," stressing that "the enemy currently does not have the ability to penetrate the international borders, especially since the reconnaissance and security effort are continuing with high coordination between the units and the establishment of a second line from the Iraqi army separating the first line.".
He concluded by saying, "The borders are now secured in a way that prevents infiltration and prevents any security breach, and currently the work stages are continuing to reach the final closure stage, in continuous cooperation with the Peshmerga forces."
