Abdullah: The targeting of Erbil affects the security of Iraq

    The Second Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Shakhwan Abdullah, confirmed today, Thursday, that the targeting of Erbil affects the security of Iraq.

    Abdullah said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that he "strongly condemns the terrorist attack with Katyusha rockets yesterday evening, which targeted separate areas of the Khabat district in the Erbil governorate near Mustafa Naft for the Kar Company," calling for "the security services to pursue the terrorists and destroy their hideouts wherever they are." And the need to take security and military measures and measures to limit the recurrence of terrorist operations.

    He added that "the terrorist attack yesterday on the Khabat district near an oil refinery was preceded by the missile attack on the house of a businessman in the field of energy," stressing that "the allegations and accusations by some malicious parties claiming the presence of foreign elements' activities on the land of Erbil are invalid.".

    He explained that "these repeated attacks are to strike the energy infrastructure throughout the country, and building energy in Iraq is causing damage to some internal and external parties.".

    Abdullah called, "Those who do not have the courage to condemn the repeated terrorist attacks in Erbil Governorate, not to legitimize these terrorist operations with flimsy pretexts," noting that "the security of the Kurdistan region is linked to the security of Iraq, and that any breach or terrorist attack on Erbil or any other Iraqi province is It violates national sovereignty and affects the security of the country in general."
