Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Shakhwan Abdullah announced on Wednesday, that Iraq's removal from Chapter VII is a step towards an effective foreign policy.
"We congratulate the Iraqi people for the announcement by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iraq’s removal from the procedures of Chapter VII of the United Nations, its fulfillment of all international obligations, and the payment of compensation due to the invasion of the former regime to the State of Kuwait in 1990," said Abdullah in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA).
He praised "the tireless efforts of Iraq diplomacy and ending the file of compensation, which constituted economic and financial burdens on the people and continued for more than thirty years,”
Abdullah expressed his great happiness for this important achievement of the Iraqi Foreign Ministry, pointing out that "Iraq's removal from Chapter VII is a great progress and a step towards an influential foreign policy regionally and globally, as well as strengthening cooperation with the international community,"
"We look forward to building the best relations, development policy and economic integration with neighboring countries, and supporting efforts aimed at strengthening the pillars of security and peace in the region," he stressed.
