Health Ministry signs contract to establish Imam Sadiq Hospital in Basra

    The Ministry of Health announced today, Monday, the signing of a contract to establish Imam Al-Sadiq Hospital (peace be upon him) in Basra Governorate.
     
    The ministry said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "Under the supervision and presence of the Minister of Health, Saleh Mahdi Al-Hasnawi, the Ministry of Health signed today, Monday, a contract with the implementing company to establish a hospital with a capacity of (100) beds in Imam Al-Sadiq District (peace be upon him) north of Basra Governorate within the Chinese loan agreement that includes 16 governorates."
     
    It added that "the Director General of the Basra Health Department, Abbas Al-Tamimi, signed the agreement on behalf of the Ministry of Health with the Director of the Alliance of the Company implementing the project, Khaled Youssef," noting that "the contract was signed in the presence of the agents and a number of general managers and department managers at the ministry's headquarters."
     
    The statement continued that "this comes within the government program to support the health sector in northern Basra," noting that "this hospital will provide its services to nearby areas within the Qurna district and the city to reduce the need for referrals from these areas that are 100 kilometers away from the center of Basra."
     
    Al-Hasnawi confirmed, according to the statement, that "the contract includes establishing the hospital and equipping it with furniture and medical and laboratory equipment over a period of three years and in accordance with the ministry's controls and international standard specifications to be ready to provide and enhance health services in northern Basra Governorate."
