Iraq participates in a symposium on migration and international security in Germany

    Foreign Minister Fouad Hussein participated today, Friday, in a symposium on migration and international security in the German city of Munich.

    Ministry spokesman Ahmed Al-Sahaf said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "Foreign Minister Fouad Hussein participated in the (Migration and International Security) symposium on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference in its fifty-eighth session held in the German city of Munich.".

    He added that "the participants discussed in the symposium the causes of international migration and its historical roots, how the European Union deals with the migration file, programs to alleviate its problems, cooperation and finding partnerships with third countries to solve it.".

    He continued, "The participants indicated that poverty, corruption and the low quality of life and services are among the most important factors causing migration, explaining that attention to the quality of education and the provision of services, and the creation of political stability and economic development, are among the important issues to reduce the phenomenon of international migration."
