A member of the Kurdistan Democratic Party, Mahdi Abdul Karim, revealed that a close meeting of the party to discuss the exclusion of its leader, Hoshyar Zebari, from running for the post of President of the Republic, at a time opening dialogue with the National Union to agree on a consensual candidate.

Regarding the possibility of negotiations between the Democratic Party and the National Union to agree on a consensual candidate, Abdul Karim said, “Everything is possible in politics, and there was a visit to the head of the Union Party, Pavel Talabani, to the head of the Democratic Party, Masoud Barzani, two days ago.

He continued, "We believe that if there is a negotiation, it may open within two days with the Union, but on the terms of the Democratic Party, and the party agreed with the Sadrist movement and the Sovereignty Alliance to support its candidate for the presidency, and he will be a candidate for the tripartite alliance between these parties."
