Iraqi forces rely on their own efforts to fortify the borders, Rasool says

    The spokesman for the Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces, Major General Yahya Rasool, confirmed today, Friday, that the Iraqi forces rely on their own efforts to fortify the borders, noting that Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi's visit to the Iraqi-Syrian border is essential.
     
    "The visit was important and contains many messages, the most important of which is the presence of the highest Authority in the country's supreme military command represented by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces," noting that "Al-Kadhimi's visit comes to confirm and closely follow up the fortification Ops of the borders, especially since there is still a security concerns in northeastern Syria," Major General Yahya Rasool told The Iraqi News Agency (INA).
     
    He added that "The visit also aims to ensure that the fortifications Ops were conducted accurately, in addition to the presence of the Commander in Chief among his sons and brothers from the armed forces, whether from the border forces or army units or other units, as this is a message of strength, and a message to raise the degree of preparedness and morale." 
     
    Rasool explained that "Any attempts by terrorist gangs will be faced by the armed forces who are always ready to confront them, and whoever tries to approach the Iraqi-Syrian borders will receive a firm response from the military units," stressing that "the message of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces was clear that terrorists have no place inside or outside Iraqi territory, and if they try to attack  or tamper with the security of our homeland, there will be a firm and strong response."
     
    He also pointed out that "Iraq today depends mainly on its security forces, border forces, army units, and other sectors to secure, defend, and fortify the borders, and terrorism will be pursued inside or outside Iraqi territory."
     
    Earlier, Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi visited on Wednesday, the Iraqi-Syrian border and met with the commanders of western Nineveh operations to follow up on the situation of the Iraqi-Syrian border, while issuing several directives related to border security.
