Two drug smugglers with 7 kg of narcotics arrested in Basra

the Security Media Cell announced  Sunday the arrest of two drug smugglers from a neighboring country, in possession of more than 7 kg of narcotics and 100,000 narcotic pills in Basra.

 A statement by the Security Media Cell, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), stated that "the Federal Intelligence and Investigations Agency in the Ministry of Interior was able to arrest two accused of foreign nationality coming from a neighboring country, who were smuggling and trading narcotic substances in Basra Governorate."

 The statement added, "The two accused were seized with a large quantity of narcotics estimated at 6 kg and a fishing boat they were traveling in, as well as drug paraphernalia."

The statement pointed out that "the necessary legal measures were duly taken with the accused and the seized items."
