The head of the Supreme Judicial Council, Judge Faiq Zaidan, confirmed today, Sunday, that the judiciary in Iraq is characterized by complete independence.
Zaidan said during the launch of the Iraqi Judiciary Day celebration in Baghdad, in the presence of judicial and diplomatic figures, that "the judiciary is the measure of goodness in nations, and it is the standard of greatness in them," noting that "the judiciary in Iraq is characterized by complete independence."
He explained, "The complete independence of the judiciary gave it greater power in maintaining the correct application of the law," stressing "its pivotal and positive role in finding constitutional and legal exits for the complicated political scene."
Zaidan stressed "the necessity of respecting what is issued by the judiciary," calling "all competing political forces to respect what is issued by it under the constitution and the law, even if it is contrary to their opinion."
