Zidane issues an arrest warrant against the killers of Al-Hashemi

    The head of the Supreme Judicial Council, Faiq Zaidan, announced today, Thursday, the issuance of an arrest warrants against the killers of Hisham Al-Hashemi and the demonstrators, while indicating that the judiciary did not succumb to any pressure in the case of Qassem Mosleh .

    Zaidan said in an interview with the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "the judiciary issued an arrest warrants for those accused of killing Hisham al-Hashemi," noting that "The judiciary is not concerned with implementing these warrants.

    He added that "some cases of the killers of demonstrators have been completed, including the issuance of death sentences against officers in Wasit and Babil," noting that "the issue of the killers of demonstrators is complex and thorny and involves many parties, and there are political parties that intervened for electoral purposes and to bring down other parties."

    Regarding the Qassem Mosleh case, Zaidan continued that "the judiciary did not succumb to any pressure in the case of Qassem Mosleh," noting that "the evidence is insufficient to convict him, as he was released after being acquitted of the accusation against him of killing protesters, including Ihab Al-Wazni."

    He explained, "Mosleh was not in Iraq at the time of the crime, and for this reason he was released."

    On cooperation with the region's judiciary, he pointed out that "the Kurdistan region is not cooperating with the federal government regarding the extradition of wanted persons and fugitives in the region, which is a realistic issue," calling on the federal government to "take measures in this regard."

    He stressed that "the judiciary in the region is within the Iraqi federal central judiciary, and arrest warrants issued by the Iraqi judiciary must be implemented in all parts of Iraq, including the Kurdistan region," noting that "several meetings were held with judges in the region to cooperate, but there is no cooperation from the region in This field is on the ground.
