Prime Minister Mohammed S. Al-Sudani exchanged Eid al-Fitr greetings with the President of the Syrian Arab Republic, Ahmed Al-Shara’.
A statement issued by the Prime Minister's media office, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), stated: "During the phone call, Prime Minister Al-Sudani extended his congratulations and best wishes to the Syrian people on the formation of the new government, reaffirming Iraq’s steadfast position in support of the choices of the brotherly Syrian people. “
The statement added ,”He stressed the importance of ensuring that the political process includes all national components of Syrian society, and that it moves toward peaceful coexistence and social stability—for a secure and stable future for Syria and the region as a whole.”
The Prime Minister also reiterated Iraq’s rejection of the Zionist entity’s incursions into Syrian territory, and affirmed Iraq’s support for the unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity of Syria, as well as its rejection of all foreign interventions. He also emphasized the importance of mutual cooperation in combating the threat of ISIS, in addition to strengthening economic collaboration given the shared opportunities and common factors between the two countries.
