4.5 magnitude earthquake rattles Sulaymaniyah

INA - BAGHDAD

Ministry of Transport - MOT announced on Monday, that an earthquake was recorded in Sulaymaniyah.

“The Ministry's seismic observatories in the General Authority for Meteorology and Seismic Monitoring recorded an earthquake this evening in Chamchamal district of Sulaymaniyah governorate,” stated MOT in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA).

The statement included, "the earthquake was recorded at 09:29:04 this evening local time, and its magnitude was 4.5, as it is 14 km north-east of Chamchamal district, Sulaymaniyah, as it was felt by the citizens of the area,”

The Meteorological Authority called on citizens to "take caution, avoid rumors and false news, and abide by the seismic recommendations issued by the General Authority for Meteorology and Seismic Monitoring.
