The Ministry of Water Resources announced Sunday its readiness to complete Badaa water project in two phases, stressing that the completion of the project will save huge sums.

the Ministry’s advisor, Aoun Diab, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA) that “The Cabinet’s decision regarding making financial allocations to implement part of the Badaa water project, which is located in the southern region of the project path, which is a critical sandy area.”

He added that "the ministry is preparing to prepare this part for implementation, which includes the establishment of a pumping station in the region, which receives water from the existing Basra water project, and is pumped by pipelines."

He pointed out that "it is expected that only two pipelines will be implemented to the basin area located near Basra Airport," stressing that "during this important process, we will get rid of sand landslides."

He stressed that "if the project is completed, it will save huge amounts of money for the maintenance work that was carried out on a continuous basis," noting that "the project will be implemented in two parts, the first is importing pipes and pumping stations, and the second part is implementation in the field, and the pipes are installed in the paths specified for them."

He concluded, by saying: "There is a high possibility that the project will be implemented by companies of the Ministry of Water Resources, and this will save some sums instead of relying on foreign companies."
