Minister of Transport, Razzaq Muhaibis Al-Saadawi, announced today, Thursday, the launch of the first Iraqi Airways flight to Sharjah.
Al-Saadawi said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "In a new step towards expanding its network of destinations and strengthening its regional presence, we announce the addition of Sharjah as a new destination to the Green Bird's regional flight schedule," indicating that "the first direct flight from Baghdad International Airport took off today to Sharjah International Airport as part of the operational plan for this sector, which includes operating three flights per week, on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays."
He explained that "this step comes as part of the company's strategy to provide diverse travel options to various regional and international destinations, to meet the needs of travelers in terms of comfort and ease of movement."
He added, "The new destination will provide distinctive travel options that contribute to strengthening relations between Iraq and the Emirates and adding quality to the Iraqi Airways network, as this destination and other destinations served by the national carrier provide flexibility and multiple options for travel, both commercially and for tourism, and consolidate its position as a leading carrier that contributes to enhancing communication between Iraq and the world."
