The General Customs Authority announced Wednesday a mutual agreement to reopen the Safwan port between Iraq and Kuwait.

"A mutual agreement between Iraq and Kuwait took place this morning, following which the Iraqi port Safwan and the Kuwaiti port Abdally were opened for the movement of passengers back and forth after they were closed due to the preventive measures taken by the two countries to deal with the Corona pandemic," the authority said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA).

"The opening of the two ports will greatly benefit the two countries that it reflects positively on the increase in trade between the two countries and the maximization of economic cooperation that was damaged after the closure due to the Corona pandemic," the statement said.
