The Border Ports Commission announced on Sunday an Iraqi-Kuwaiti agreement to build Safwan border port. A statement by the Commission (Ina received a copy of) said: “The Joint Iraqi-Kuwaiti High Ministerial Committee held a meeting in Kuwait. The Iraqi delegation headed by the foreign Minister, with a number of heads of commissions, deputies, and the Border Ports Commission. The Kuwaiti side agreed to build Safwan border port as a grant, and provide the required infrastructure for operation”. The statement added that an understanding memorandum will be signed between the two parties, defining the obligations of the two sides concerning the port’s operation”.
