NSS: 61 accused of electronic extortion arrested in several provinces

The National Security Service announced Wednesday that 61 suspects of cyber extortion had been arrested in several provinces in the past two months.
 
"Based on citizens' complaints, the National Security Service detachments have arrested 61 suspects of cyber-extortion in 12 provinces in the past two months," the security media cell said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency INA.
 
"The defendants were threatening women and girls after they were deluded into marriage, taking their own pictures and then bargaining with them for money in exchange for not posting them on social media," he said.

"Their statements have been originally recorded and all have been referred to the competent legal authorities to take the necessary measures against them," the statement said.
