Iraq won the International Equestrian Championship cup, which ended on Saturday in The State of Daqm, Oman, under the direct supervision of the International Federation.
Haidar Hussein al-Jumaily, president of the Iraqi Equestrian Federation, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA) on Sunday: "Iraq won seven medals, three gold, one silver and three bronze medals, with jockey Osama Abdul Hamid and jockey Osama Liwaa Bahlul winning the doubles race, and a second for jockey Abdul Hamid Rashid in the singles race and another for the total points achieved for three days for jockey Osama Liwaa Bahlul and Abdul Hamid Rashid."
"The silver medal was for the doubles race by jockey Abdul Hamid Rashid and jockey Osama Liwaa Bahlul, while the first bronze medals were for al-Furki and another for jockey Abdul Hamid Rashid, and one for the third best jockey in the tournament for jockey Abdul Hamid Rashid," al-Jumaili said.
"The tournament saw the participation of 33 jockeys, representing 16 countries: Oman, Iraq, Palestine, Sudan, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, UAE, Jordan, the United States, Britain, Russia, Canada, Norway, Malaysia and Germany," al-Jumaili said.
