MOFA: Measures to facilitate voluntary return of Iraqis from Lithuania camps

    Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein confirmed on Wednesday, that the Iraqi government has taken all measures to facilitate the voluntary return of Iraqis to the camps in Lithuania.
     
    Hussein met his Lithuanian counterpart Gabrielius Landsbergis, on the sidelines of the high-level segment work of the United Nations General Assembly - 76th session, according to a statement by the media office of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA).
     
    During the meeting, both discussed aspects of joint cooperation between the two countries, and they the issue of Iraqi citizens who are inside the shelter camps.
     
    The minister stressed, "the Iraqi government taken measures to facilitate the voluntary return by issuing the required documents and providing special trips to transport them to Iraq, and directing the concerned Iraqi missions to follow up the issue and conduct a visit in this country,"
     
    "Iraq is keen to end this matter, and ensuring the safety and security of its citizens,” Hussein added.
     
    For his part, Landsbergis praised the spirit of cooperation and facilities carried out by the Iraqi government, and its serious and ongoing interest in ensuring the return of its citizens from Lithuania, noting that "the Lithuanian national laws on illegal border crossing expose them to legal accountability,"
     
    At the end of the meeting, the two sides agreed on the importance of exchanging visits to find appropriate solutions.
