Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein announced that the government will investigate the smuggling of Iraqis into Lithuania, while his Lithuanian counterpart Gabrielius Landsbergis stressed the need to stop smuggling networks.
Hussein said during a press conference held with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Gabrielius Landsbergis, and followed by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "The visit of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania is the first to Iraq and came to build relations between the two countries."
He added, "We talked about the Iraqi refugees in Lithuania," stressing his "rejection that there should be human traffickers in Iraqi society."
He stressed the need to "preserve the interests of citizens at home and abroad," noting that "the government will investigate the smuggling of Iraqis to Lithuania through Russia."
For his part, the Lithuanian Foreign Minister indicated "the need to stop the Iraqi smuggling network," pointing to "the possibility of increasing diplomatic representation with Iraq."
