The Federal Integrity Commission-FCOI announced on Wednesday the return of a convict involved in corruption cases from the Arab Republic of Egypt. The Commission confirmed receiving the fugitive convict, who had committed job-related violations during his tenure in Diyala Governorate.
In a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), the Commission revealed it "successfully retrieved the convict (Qassim Laith Rashid), wanted by both the judiciary and the Iraqi Integrity Commission, from the relevant Egyptian authorities."
FCOI had previously prepared an extradition file against him in accordance with Article (331) of the Penal Code.
The statement continued, "The arrest warrants and bulletins issued for the convict were sent to the Office of the Public Prosecutor, which forwarded them to the Arab and International Police Directorate, prompting the issuance of a Red Notice and a search alert."
It noted that "he was apprehended in Egyptian territory and handed over to the Iraqi authorities, emphasizing the strong cooperation and coordination with the Arab and International Police Directorate at the Ministry of Interior."
