The Cabinet spokesman, Hassan Nadhim, denied today, Sunday, the existence of any obstacles to the investigation of corruption cases, while noting that the Anti-Corruption Committee played a major role in prosecuting the corrupt.
Nadhim told the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "there are no indications of the existence of political and partisan bodies that obstruct or want to stop an investigation or a corruption case at all, especially in the Ministry of Culture."
He added, "The Anti-Corruption Committee formed by the Prime Minister is honest and transparent and played a major role in prosecuting the corrupt," noting that "the steps taken by the Committee did not exist in the past with such clarity and that they do not hesitate in front of the corrupt, whoever they are, in light of everyone's recognition of the existence of corruption." in state institutions.
Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi had announced, earlier, the formation of a higher committee to specialize in major corruption cases and exceptional crimes, with wide powers.
