Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani extended his congratulations to the Iraqi people today, Tuesday, following the national football team’s victory over their Omani counterparts in the Asian qualifiers for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Al-Sudani stated in a tweet, followed by the Iraqi News Agency (INA),"We extend our heartfelt congratulations to our people and sports fans on the victory of our national football team over the brotherly Omani team in the AFC qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup. We hope this win serves as motivation to achieve positive results in the upcoming matches and bring the joy of qualification to the finals. We reaffirm our continued support for the team and the coaching staff in their national mission".
