The presidencies and political forces agreed during their meeting on Saturday, under the auspices of Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi in Baghdad, on the necessity of holding the elections on their scheduled date, on the tenth of next October.
A meeting of the National Forces was held in the government palace, under the patronage of Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi, in the presence of Parliament Speaker Muhammad Al-Halbousi, President of the Supreme Judicial Council Faiq Zaidan, and the Electoral Commission, as well as the United Nations Mission in Iraq, according to a statement by the media office of the Prime Minister, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA).
The commission offered a detailed explanation of its technical preparations and ability to hold the elections on the scheduled date on the tenth of next October.
Al-Kadhimi affirmed, "the government adhered to the scheduled date for holding the elections, and its ability to provide the appropriate atmosphere for holding it,''
Prime Minister and the political forces renewed the call for the political blocs that made a boycott to the elections; to reverse its decision, as Al-Kadhimi suggested the formation of a committee of the national political forces to make dialogues with the boycott blocs, and persuade them to reverse the decision; in order to unify efforts during the next stage.
