The President of the Republic, Dr. Barham Salih, confirmed on Thursday, that Iraq is working to strengthen its balanced relations and support the paths of dialogue and rapprochement, while the Secretary-General of the Expediency Discernment Council, Mohsen Rezaei, praised the Iraqi endeavors to alleviate tensions in the region.
The media office of the President of the Republic stated in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that President Barham Salih received at his residence in Tehran the Secretary-General of the Expediency Discernment Council, Mohsen Rezaei, to discuss joint bilateral relations between the two countries and ways of developing them in various fields of common interest, which is beneficial to the two friendly peoples who have close ties.
The statement added that the two sides discussed regional developments, emphasizing the importance of easing tensions through convergence and dialogue.
According to the statement, Salih said, Iraq is working to strengthen its balanced relations and support the paths of dialogue and convergence in order to establish stability and peace in the region.
For his part, Rezaei affirmed the Islamic Republic of Iran's support for the security and stability of Iraq and its people, praising Iraq's efforts to alleviate regional tensions.
