    The Ministry of Water Resources stressed the importance of holding a tripartite meeting between Iraq, Syria and Turkey to share the harm of water scarcity.

    The ministry said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "the Iraqi delegation headed by Minister of Water Resources Mahdi Rashid Al-Hamdani held a detailed ministerial technical meeting with his Syrian counterpart, Minister of Water Resources Tammam Muhammad Raad, during which topics of joint cooperation between the two countries were discussed and the current reality of the Tigris Rivers was studied. and the Euphrates and the challenges they face at the local, regional and international levels, and agreeing on a mechanism to develop cooperation in the areas of investment in the water and irrigation sector.

    In addition to that "the two sides discussed many technical details to deepen joint coordination between the two countries to confront common water challenges and stress the importance of holding a tripartite meeting that includes Iraq, Syria and Turkey to reach clear visions and share the damage in times of water scarcity as a result of climate changes and the lack of rain and snow cover," noting that The meeting was attended by a number of specialists and technicians from the Iraqi and Syrian sides.

     Al-Hamdani expressed his happiness "for the return of meetings in a serious and continuous manner, after a hiatus that lasted years, whether at the ministerial level, the technical level, or remotely via closed circuit television."
