The Agency of Intelligence and Federal Investigation Agency at the Ministry of Interior announced on Tuesday, foiling an attack targeting crude oil lines and arresting number of smugglers in different parts of the country.
AIFI said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that " As part of our continuous intelligence efforts to prevent crude oil smuggling, the detachments of AIFI were able to detect (five) breaches on crude oil pipelines in separate areas of the country used by gangs to smuggle and transport oil.
The statement added that AIFI detachments were also able to arrest five suspects and seize their wheels loaded with the oil product, due to the lack of official documents for the cargo and their violation of the traffic path.
Meanwhile, AIFI affirmed that their detachments were able to raid a hideout used for smuggling and seized 6 large tanks containing an oil product and 2 suspected with their wheels, noting that the operations are still continuing to protect national wealth from criminal and outlaw gangs.
