The Ministry of Electricity announced on Monday, targeting the power line suppling al-Karkh water project, indicating that this aims to cut off the potable water from citizens.
MOE said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that armed violence continues to negatively affect the infrastructure of the electricity sector and expose it to great losses in the vital resource by depriving citizens of energy and isolating regions and provinces from each other by detonating towers and power transmission lines. In addition to the material losses, limiting access to basic human services and stopping the wheel of economic development through vandalizing electric power lines and towers throughout Iraq.
The statement added that Quds-Nasr line (132 kV) 1 + 2 was vandalized by a terrorist attack, resulting the explosion of tower No. 21 of Nasr Station with IEDs at 11: 20 p.m. local time , in Tarmiyah area, the village of Zamlat Hamdi, noting that the engineering and technical staff headed there to rehabilitate and maintain the line in order to get it back to work as soon as possible.
MOE confirmed that the groups who are motivated by ideologies of sabotage use terrorist tactics aim to arbitrarily deprive Iraqis of their basic rights to an acceptable public service and the well-developed lifestyle they deserve, indicating the government continues efforts deprive terrorists of accessing the means that enable them to launch their attacks, achieve their goals and prevent the desired effect, in addition to improve, protect and provide services that are worthy of the citizen despite the challenges facing the country.
