Al-Abbas Combat Division and Geneva Call discussed ways of cooperation.
Commander of the Al-Abbas Combat Division, Maytham Al-Zaidi, received the Director of the Regional Office and North Africa in Geneva Call, Vance Clabert and his accompanying delegation, the media office of the Al-Abbas Combat Division included in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA).
During the meeting, the two sides discussed many issues and files related to the humanitarian effort of Al-Abbas Combat Division and future cooperation with regard to the "international humanitarian law", which defines standards for dealing with humanitarian matters in war and obliges the military forces to take into account the safety of civilians, in addition to other issues related to the file of the IDPs.
"The Iraqi forces showed an unparalleled humanitarian treatment, and this is the advantage of the Iraqi people. It surprises the world with its humanity with the wars it has faced,” Al-Zaidi said, according to the statement.
He expressed that, "The Iraqi forces interpreted their humanity by providing relief to the IDPs and evacuating civilian families from conflict areas in our battles with the terrorist gangs of Daesh,”
Al-Zaidi pointed out that "the humanity of Iraqis has historical and Islamic roots, which they derived by the pure blood that was poured on their land," referring to the killing of Imam Hussein in Karbala.
For its part, the organization praised the efforts of Al-Abbas Combat Division in the field of health care and the protection of civilians as well as, their property during the liberation battles.
Both have already signed an agreement to hold workshops on international humanitarian law, through international trainers and experts.
