Today, Baghdad Municipality revealed its development plans for the capital, which will include major projects, including the construction of three bridges to break traffic jams, while indicating its total budget, which is estimated at 236 billion dinars, announcing the imminent start of the first stage in the development projects of the capital, Baghdad. Mayor of Baghdad Alaa Maan told the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "The budget of the Baghdad Municipality is approximately 236 billion dinars, which is the total self-revenue, in addition to the budget and regional development, which has been increased to 30% instead of 20%," stressing that " It is a good amount and we can enter into many projects, including strategic ones. He added that "the first phase of the development of Baghdad is to cover 29 localities on both sides of Karkh and Rusafa, as well as the development of six main streets in Baghdad, which will include removing distortions and trespasses, developing a new design for streets, and increasing green spaces, calling on the Baghdadi citizen to help the Municipality, and its participation in development campaign.
He pointed out that "there are eight stores that we will start developing during the next week, including the Al-Fadiliya area, which has not been developed for many years, and which suffered from a lack of resources and poor planning to serve it. He stressed that "the Municipality intends to announce the development of 21 other localities, and specialized companies will enter to develop it, stressing the necessity of applying technical specifications accurately," noting that "Ibn Rushd Company will be responsible for quality control and specifications for all works involved in development. He explained that "the removal of traffic jams in Baghdad will be through the first plan, to establish three main bridges in Baghdad, including the Darwish bridge next to Karkh, the Baghdad-Babylon bridge, and the Square 83 bridge. He pointed out, the construction of a large number of pedestrian bridges, and we will build a large number of them, and we seek to return the electric stairs to pedestrian crossing.
