Minister of Justice Mr. Salar Abdul Sattar announced today, Tuesday, that the United Nations Security Council had issued a resolution to release the seized Iraqi funds.
The media office of justice ministry stated in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that Minister of Justice, Salar Abdul Sattar Muhammad, met today in his office, the Swiss ambassador to Iraq, Lucas Jacir, indicating that during the meeting, they discussed ways to enhance joint cooperation between the two sides, especially the possibility of signing a memorandum of cooperation between the Iraqi and Swiss ministries of justice to exchange legal expertise and judicial notifications in order to develop the capabilities of the Ministry's personnel in the near future.
The two sides also reviewed the discussion over releasing sums of Iraqi funds, as Mr. Salar demanded to lift the seizure of these funds, knowing that there is a decision issued by the UN Security Council regarding this subject.
It’s to be mentioned, that both sides also reviewed the participation of the Republic of Iraq in writing the National Human Rights Plan prepared by the ministry and other representatives in the national committee for writing treaty reports, which will be held in the ninth month of this year in Geneva.
For his part, the Swiss ambassador expressed his great thanks to the minister for his cooperation, expressing his country's readiness to coordinate in the field of exchanging experiences and the possibility of signing a memorandum of cooperation between the two sides in the future.
