Al-Ghazi : We aspire for foreign companies to have a prominent role in investing

    The Secretary-General of the Council of Ministers, Hamid Naim Al-Ghazi, confirmed today, Monday, that the Iraqi government aspires for foreign companies to have a prominent role in investing, while Canadian Ambassador Orlick Shannon indicated to continue providing support to the Stabilization Group in the liberated areas.

    The General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "the Secretary-General of the Council of Ministers, Hamid Naim Al-Ghazi, received the Canadian Ambassador in Baghdad, Orlik Shannon, and a number of representatives of the coalition of companies (Iraqi - Canadian - Finnish)."

    The Secretary-General of the Council of Ministers praised the Canadian government's role and contribution to restoring the stabilization effort in the liberated areas, while working with the Stabilization Team, and its continued support through the establishment of a number of projects in a number of areas inside Iraq.

    He stressed that "the Iraqi government has achieved advanced and positive results in opening up prospects for cooperation and deepening relations with all countries in the economic, investment and trade fields, and directed to announce the implementation of vital projects in all sectors after approving the general federal budget of the Republic of Iraq for the year (2021)", pointing out that it "It aspires for foreign companies to have a prominent role in investing in Iraq."

    For his part, the Canadian ambassador praised "the extraordinary effort of the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers, in managing the file of support for the liberated areas, and providing all means of support to donor countries and international organizations," stressing "continuing to provide support to the stabilization group in the liberated areas, as well as the readiness of Canadian companies." To open prospects for joint cooperation with Iraq, in order to establish investment projects in all sectors.
