Salih: scientific independence of Iraqi universities should be guaranteed

The President of the Republic of Iraq, Barham Salih, stressed, today, Monday, the importance of ensuring the protection of the scientific independence of Iraqi universities.
 
The media office of the Presidency stated in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "the President of the Republic, Barham Salih, met the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Mr. Nabil Kazem Abdul Sahib."

During the meeting, Salih stressed the importance to ensure a high standard of scientific level of Iraqi universities and raise the academic education in Iraq, and coping with the challenges presented by the COVID-19, with ensuring that the level of science will not be affected by the challenges that swept the world currently.

According to the statement, Salih confirmed that the needs of university professors and students should be met, and the barriers that they face should be overcome. 
On his part, the Minister of Higher Education commended President Salih's efforts for paying attention to the Ministry of Higher Education' issues and for his directions in this regard.
