Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi confirmed that relations with Belgium are of distinct importance to Iraq, while Belgian Prime Minister Alexander de Croo expressed support for the international trend to send a support mission to accompany the implementation of the Iraqi elections .

And the Prime Minister's media office said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi received, today, a phone call from Belgian Prime Minister Alexander de Croo," noting that "during which aspects of joint cooperation between the two countries and strengthening relations were discussed." between Iraq, Belgium and the whole of the European Union.

Al-Kadhimi stressed during the call that "relations with Belgium are of distinct importance to Iraq," explaining that "the Iraqi government believes in the need to develop them in the political and economic fields, not to mention the military and security, especially since terrorism constitutes a common threat and must be confronted with a united effort by all forces of good." and stability in the world.

For his part, the Belgian Prime Minister affirmed his aspiration to "receive Al-Kadhimi in Belgium as soon as possible," noting "Brussels' support for the Iraqi government and its efforts in the field of economic reform, and in the fight against terrorism."

And he indicated that "the position of his government in support of Iraq in the fight against terrorism stems from the principle of a joint commitment to Iraq in this regard," noting that "his government supports the imposition of the authority of the Iraqi state and its measures aimed at extending the rule of law."

He expressed "Belgium's support for the international trend to send a support mission to accompany the implementation of the early Iraqi parliamentary elections," stressing "the desire of his government to help make the elections a success, ensuring that they are the true expression of the will of the Iraqi people."
