The President of the Republic, Dr. Barham Salih, affirmed, today, Saturday, that the sovereignty of Iraq is based on the consolidation of regional and international security.
A statement by the Media Office of the President of the Republic, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), stated that "the President of the Republic, Barham Salih, received Pakistani Foreign Minister Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Qureshi. for both military institutions in the two countries, and the development of the capabilities of the Iraqi armed forces.
President Salهh said: "The world and the region in particular, are facing common challenges represented by terrorism, extremism and the escalation of tensions that affect global security and stability, and this requires international cooperation in facing security and health challenges, protecting the environment and maintaining international security and stability."
He stressed that "the policy of openness that Iraq adopts to everyone is aimed at easing tensions and crises, emphasizing the pivotal role of Iraq and restoring its role in the region," noting that "a secure, stable, sovereign Iraq and its close relations with its Arab depth and Islamic neighborhood and its relations with the international community are based Consolidating security, stability and development in the region.
For his part, Pakistani Foreign Minister Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Qureshi affirmed "his country's commitment to supporting Iraq's security and sovereignty, and aspiration towards consolidating bilateral relations and cooperation in various fields, and developing and training the Iraqi security forces."
