The Secretary-General of the Council of Ministers, Hamid Al-Ghazi, affirmed today, Saturday, that non-governmental organizations have a role in educating society and enhancing its capabilities.
Al-Ghazi said during his speech at the fourth annual conference of civil society organizations, which was followed by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): “The NGOs operating in Iraq had a vital role in educating society and enhancing its capabilities,” noting that “NGOs should undertake the tasks of support. And to provide support for the success of the major exercise of voting and its continuation of its work in the public space, side by side with state institutions.
He added that "the modern era has produced for us the concept of (civil society) based on the foundations of citizenship, social organization, institutions and supporting structures," stressing that "the General Secretariat renews its commitment to work hand in hand with local and international organizations to build a vital social base that walks on clear paths, dismantling existing challenges. between the values of hierarchical social organization and the values of social organization.
Al-Ghazi pointed out that "the General Secretariat organized the national campaign to confront the Corona pandemic, in which nine hundred and twenty organizations contributed, and during two hundred and eighty-seven days, they provided their humanitarian work to more than five million citizens in eighteen governorates, to which forty-six thousand volunteers contributed."
