The Parliamentary Oil and Energy Committee, called today, Sunday, to invest in Iraq's good relations with oil-exporting countries to increase its exports, while demanding the formation of a negotiating team to put pressure on OPEC.
A member of the committee, Bahaa al-Din al-Nuri, said in a statement to the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "Iraq's increase in its oil exports does not need an agreement or support from any country as it is a national decision."
He added, "Iraq can go with a good negotiating team consisting of the Ministry of Oil and the Parliamentary Energy Committee with a unified vision to pressure OPEC in order to increase its oil exports."
He pointed out that "Iraq was deprived of oil marketing for long periods from 1991 to 2003, and its share was taken by some countries, and the Iraqi negotiator could pressure in this direction to increase oil exports and obtain a larger share by OPEC, through which Iraq would be fair."
