The port of Faw will provide 700 job opportunities during the coming days as a first stage after the financial allocations allocated to the port are launched in the current budget, and this number represents part of the total between 10 to 15 thousand job opportunities in the five projects signed by the government with The Korean company "Daewoo".
The official of relations and media at the General Company for Ports, Bahaa Ismail, said in an interview with Al-Sabah, which was followed by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): “A number of young people from Al-Faw district demanded job opportunities in the port through the five recently signed projects that the Prime Minister laid a foundation for last month "Indicating that" these projects have not been started yet due to the delay in launching the financial allocations allocated to them in the budget, and if they are launched, between 10 to 15 thousand workers will be employed at varying periods according to the completion rates. "
He added, "In the event that the allocations are launched, the Korean company will employ approximately 700 local workers from the people of FAO and the rest of the Iraqi cities." He added, "The Faw port project is one of the important projects that have priority for the government, so the release of funds will not be delayed." It will be launched at the end of the
current month .
Ismail said that "there are many projects, including building structures for the five berths, surveying and digging the navigation channel leading to the Faw port and the road leading to the water tunnel, and these projects need labor."
He pointed out that "there are jobs in the Korean Company for Business signed in 2013, and these projects have absorbed 800 local workers in various specializations," noting that "the completion rates in these projects range from 60 to 65%."
