US President Donald Trump announced today, Saturday, that he ordered airstrikes against one of the top planners of attacks in the terrorist organization ISIS, and others from the organization in Somalia.

Trump said in a post on the "X" platform: "These killers we found hiding in caves threatened the United States and our allies."
He added: "The strikes destroyed the caves in which they lived, and killed many terrorists, without harming civilians in any way."

For his part, US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth commented on the raid, saying that he authorized the US Africa Command to launch coordinated airstrikes targeting Somali ISIS elements in the Golis Mountains, based on Trump's directives and in coordination with the Somali federal government.

He indicated that initial estimates indicate that many elements were killed in the airstrikes and no civilians were harmed.
