The Ministry of Oil revealed its plan today, Tuesday, to maintain and develop gas production, indicating that one of its priorities is to invest 200 refiners per day from Dhi Qar fields.
A ministry statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) stated that "the Undersecretary for Extraction Affairs, Karim Hattab, chaired a meeting for the joint management in the Al-Gharaf oil field in Dhi Qar Governorate."
Hattab said, "The governorate's fields are among the promising oil fields in Iraq, and they enjoy the Ministry's interest, and are keen to provide a suitable work environment for national and foreign companies in order to achieve common goals."
He pointed out, "the importance of expanding projects to develop oil fields and infrastructure, and sustaining production in the governorate, noting the ministry’s plans that also aim to invest the gas associated with oil operations in the governorate, and that the ministry contracted with an international company specializing in this field to invest (200 MSCM) In Dhi Qar, as it is an important step in this framework and will contribute to bring about a qualitative leap.”
