The Popular Mobilization Forces thwarted an attack on Daesh on Wednesday to target Eid celebrations in Hawija district southwest of Kirkuk.
The 5th Battalion, 56th Brigade of the PMF, managed to thwart Daesh on the village of al-Burghliya in the Hawija district, the Popular Mobilization forces website said in a statement received by the state news agency .
One of the heroes of the Fifth Regiment was a martyr as a result of the operation against the terrorist attempt, the statement said.It is noteworthy that the Popular Mobilization in Kirkuk, a special security plan in conjunction with Eid al-Adha, included cities and agricultural villages in addition to markets and public utilities.
