Shakir Hamed, the spokesman for Parliamentary speaker Mohammed Al-Halbousi said on Sunday that the lawsuit against Parliamentary speaker concerning the Independent High Commission for Human Rights’ law is a normal procedure; not a personal dispute.

Hamed said in a statement (Ina received a copy of): “What was reported by the media and social communication about Prime Minister’s Adel Abdul Mahdi lawsuit against Halbousi wasn’t a personal dispute between them; but a lawsuit against the Parliamentary Speaker (as a position), which is known by law as- Legal Statue”.

He added: “The law allows each party to initiate proceedings; to challenge laws legislated by the Parliament; in its present or former period; if any legal problems or interference in powers were found. The law also allows citizens to submit appeals to a decision or law in accordance with the Constitution. The Federal Court is authorized to govern between legislative and executive authorities; about the validity of the proceedings. Therefore there is no personal dispute between the PM and Parliamentary Speaker.”
