President Barham Salih received his Palestinian counterpart President Mahmoud Abbas on Monday in Baghdad, Iraq.
The meeting occurred during a big and official ceremony in Salam Presidential Palace.
Both have discussed the brotherly historical relations between Iraq and Palestine and the importance to develop mutual cooperation and coordination between the two countries.
Salih asserted the importance to protect Jerusalem and the holy properties and that all efforts must be exerted to achieve the goals and hopes of Palestinian people of providing peace, stability and the having full rights.
“Iraq will always defend Palestine and it is the prior case internationally to us,” said President Salih.
On his part, Abbas expressed his country’s congratulations for the victories achieved against Daesh terrorist groups.
He also explained that Palestine looks forward to developing the mutual relations saying that Palestine will always stand by Iraq in his fight against terrorism.
