The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Planning in the Kurdistan Regional Government of Iraq and the Head of the Statistics Authority in the region, Sirwan Muhammed Muhyiddin, confirmed on Monday that implementing the general population and housing census in Iraq constitutes a turning point in the work of the Ministries of Planning in Baghdad and Erbil.

"The second pack of results of the general population and housing census is being launched today after we launched the first group three months ago," said Muhyiddin to the Iraqi News Agency - INA.

He added that "implementing the general population and housing census in Iraq after 27 years since the last non-comprehensive census and 37 years since the last comprehensive census represents a pivotal turning point in the work of the Ministries of Planning in Baghdad and Erbil. It is another major achievement for the two statistical agencies, as the two statistical agencies had completed the implementation of the social and economic survey in mid-2024. It is a major survey with its results that continued in parallel with the preparation for the census."

"Implementing the population census in its current new form poses a challenge in more than one aspect, the first is a technical challenge and the other is a time challenge, but in the end the census was implemented on time," he included.
